Stoic is the forerunner of what was Backcountry.com brand gear. The result is apparel that is designed for the great outdoors – the greatly frigid outdoors. The Stoic brand offers a line of technical outerwear, mid layers and base layers for warmth in dire conditions. The Stoic Welder Lo Softshell Jacket is one of the newly-christened piece of outerwear on the market. The Welder Lo Softshell is designed to be versatile to handle the wide majority of conditions on the mountain. It has a tapered athletic fit which gives it a tailored feel. The athletic fit allows for unimpeded movement. You can notice the difference when taking on that quick tight turn on the moguls – no issues with your arm rubbing against the jacket for that pole plant. If you are built more like a weeble, this jacket will not fit you properly due to your Homer Simpson-like mid section. It features Polartec PowerShield which makes the jacket water resistant and blocks 98% of wind. The jacket sports 4 pockets – 1 internal chest pocket which an easy-access portal for your iPod headphones. Good for colder winter days and early spring skiing, the Welder Lo Softshell Jacket. Its tailored fit does allow for a few thinner mid layers. The only negative with the Welder lo Softshell is the restrictive cuffs of the jacket. The cuffs fit somewhat snug around your wrists and are not adjustable to fit over your gloves. The Stoic Welder Lo Softshell Jacket will meet your needs for colder winter days and for the spring ski season. The Welder lo Softshell is available in black with school bus yellow trim. It retails for $269 and can only be purchased through Backcountry.com.Tags:best ski jacketbest ski jackets for menoutdoor gear reviewsskiingsnowboardingstoic backcountrystoic jacketsstoic welder lo softshell jacket View the discussion thread. blog comments powered by Disqus back to top Jason ElliotJason Elliot is the Editor and Publisher of OutdoorInformer.com.
